Funded by GCERF, the SIRR project focuses on rehabilitating and reintegrating individuals affected by violent extremism in Garissa County. With a project timeline extending until 2026, the initiative includes activities such as mapping of professions and para-professions, consultative meetings with security actors, training on messaging development, town hall forums, and sensitization for the county. These efforts contribute to peace and stability in the region. A key objective of GCERF’s engagement is to facilitate collaboration between government and civil society. For PVE efforts to be sustainable, they must be linked to government-owned strategies and policies so that when GCERF funding for an initiative ends, government and local actors are able to continue building on their successes.
